Online badminton lessons: one step, one video, one grade

An indoor badminton lesson teaches you a movement with a coach watching you. BadmintonPeak courses do the same thing remotely: each step gives an instruction and an exercise, you film it, your video is graded, and you get feedback on what to adjust before the next step. They complement your club, they do not replace it.

What you send

One rally, one drill or one match sequence

No need to film a whole match. Most analysed videos are under two minutes.

What video analysis shows

Film one rally and we tell you what is off on this shot

You send a rally, a drill or a match sequence. The analysis spots the motion, the timing and the positioning, and gives you one correction to work on at your next session.

What a BadmintonPeak course is

A course takes a stroke or a game situation, the smash, short and long serve, drop shot, split step, smash defense, backhand clear from the backcourt, and breaks it down into short steps. Each step consists of three things: a precise cue on the movement, an exercise to perform with a partner or feeder, and a video to send. The video is analyzed based on the criteria of the step, the downward angle for the smash, the clearance above the net tape for the short serve, the lunge foot for footwork, and you receive a score with successful repetitions, less successful ones, and what sets them apart. The next step opens once the previous one is mastered. Classic courses cover the fundamentals; a more demanding collection covers construction situations and playing styles.

What you send

For each step, a set of repetitions filmed on your phone, in landscape mode, with your whole body in the frame. The course tells you where to place the phone, side view at hip height for a stroke, behind for a situation, and how many repetitions to film, usually about ten. You need a partner or shuttle feeder for most exercises, a wall or shadow badminton for some. The video is scored on the requested movement, not on the outcome of the rally: a smash that has a good steep angle but goes slightly out counts as successful for the angle step. Your video remains private in your account and can be deleted whenever you want.

What you receive

A score per set, with a count of successful repetitions, timestamps to watch for the best and worst ones, and a sentence explaining the difference between them. When the set is mastered, the step is validated and the next one unlocks; otherwise, you redo the set with a tighter cue. Throughout the course, you see your progress step by step, and the Peak coach uses it to suggest what to work on. Some steps also deliver an annotated video, with your repetitions clipped and tagged. A course does not require a subscription to start: the first step of each classic course is available for free, while subsequent ones come with a monthly or annual subscription.

Available courses

Classic courses cover the fundamentals, one stroke per course: smash with a downward angle, high and deep clear, drop shot placed behind the net, backhand clear from the backcourt, short and long serve, slice and reverse slice, block defense, lift and drive, split step and footwork recovery, variation of rear court shots. A more demanding collection focuses on game situations: constructing in neutral, escaping pressure from the backcourt, body attacks, following up after a short serve, and playing styles, defensive, counter-attacking, aggressive, attacking, helping you embrace the one that suits you best. Each course indicates its level, required equipment, and number of steps; you can take several at the same time, and the Peak coach will tell you which one best serves what was observed in your videos.

Who it is for

For the club player who wants to work on a specific shot between group training sessions, where individual time per player is limited. For the player without a club or coach who wants guided progression rather than watching random videos. And for the coach who wants to assign verifiable work to their players between sessions: the course provides the cue, the video proves it is being applied. Courses do not replace on-court training, a partner, or match play; they make technical work measurable. They can be followed on the web and in the iOS and Android app using the same account.

Frequently asked questions

Are the courses paid?

The first step of every classic course is free, no credit card required. The following steps and the advanced collection come with a monthly or annual subscription that you can cancel anytime from your profile.

Do I need a partner to take a course?

For most steps, yes: a partner or feeder who feeds shuttles into the target area. Some footwork steps can be done alone using shadow training.

How long does a step take?

One session is enough to film a set; feedback arrives within a few minutes. Progression depends on you: a step mastered on the first try, or another redone two or three times.

Can an online course replace on-court coaching?

No. It makes technical work measurable between sessions, providing a score on every filmed set. Coaching feedback, a partner, and real matches remain essential.
