Why this course

Impose your rhythm right from the service return by alternating natural returns with modified/deceptive returns depending on the service zone.

Theory

The Context

The receiver in men's singles has a statistical advantage over the server. But that's not enough: you need to convert this advantage into initiative. Modified and faked returns are the main weapons for this.

The Concept

  • Natural return: the zone created by the racket face orientation based on the service zone. On Z0/Z1 → short return or lift with the backhand.
  • Modified return: return to the unnatural zone (grip change). On Z0 → cross-court push return with the forehand (orientation change).
  • Faked return: preparation for the natural return but switching to another zone at the last moment.

The modified return costs grip change time but surprises; the faked return requires true technical mastery.

How This Course Is Structured

We first work on modified returns, then faked returns, then alternating with the natural return.

To Go Further

  • Short serve MS Z0/Z1 — understanding the server's side.
  • Low hand hitting — pinning at the net on the return.

Frequently asked
Who is this badminton course for?+

This course targets the competitive player refining their game under pressure. The selection of drills, the targeted observables and the AI's feedback tone are calibrated to that level — neither too basic nor too technical.

How long does it take to complete?+

The course is structured in 5 steps of video drills. Total estimated time on-court is around 5 minutes spread across multiple sessions — most users complete it over 2 to 4 weeks at the rate of 1 to 2 sessions per week.

What will I actually learn?+

The course focuses on short serve, long serve and their tactical variants in singles and doubles. Each step isolates one observable (a measurable aspect of the stroke or movement), films your reps, and the AI scores you with a personalized improvement axis.

Do I need a partner or coach?+

All steps in this course require a partner — either to feed shuttles in a controlled rhythm or to play themed exchanges. The AI replaces the coach's eye for technical feedback — you stay in control of when and how you train.

How much does it cost?+

This OTTHN course is reserved for PRO subscribers (€39/month). The first step is accessible with a BASIC plan to discover the competitive approach before upgrading.
