Why this course

Mastering the backhand (net and rear court) to stop going around the shuttlecock and naturally cover the entire court.

Theory

The Context

The backhand is the side many amateur players avoid by running around the shuttle. This circumvention costs time, leaves the court exposed, and signals an exploitable weakness to opponents. Mastering the backhand means naturally covering the entire court.

The Concept

  • Specific backhand grip (thumb on the wide bevel): the universal grip isn't enough for powerful backhands.
  • Forearm rotation: the main engine of the backhand, not the arm.
  • Lunge position for deep backhands: right foot forward for a right-handed player (racket side).

To avoid: running around the shuttle, keeping the universal grip (racket face poorly oriented), arm extended too early (loss of power).

How This Course Is Structured

We first work on the static backhand (focus on grip + rotation), then the deep backhand with movement, then the backhand clear (aim for the back alley), then alternating net/clear, and finally the forced backhand in a match.

To Go Further

  • High hand / low hand maneuverability — to integrate the backhand into overall versatility.
  • Center of play and oriented recovery — to avoid being systematically attacked on the backhand side.

Frequently asked
Who is this badminton course for?+

This course targets the club player ready to take a technical step up. The selection of drills, the targeted observables and the AI's feedback tone are calibrated to that level — neither too basic nor too technical.

How long does it take to complete?+

The course is structured in 5 steps of video drills. Total estimated time on-court is around 5 minutes spread across multiple sessions — most users complete it over 2 to 4 weeks at the rate of 1 to 2 sessions per week.

What will I actually learn?+

The course focuses on the technical and tactical foundations: grip, ready position, fundamental strokes and game reading. Each step isolates one observable (a measurable aspect of the stroke or movement), films your reps, and the AI scores you with a personalized improvement axis.

Do I need a partner or coach?+

All steps in this course require a partner — either to feed shuttles in a controlled rhythm or to play themed exchanges. The AI replaces the coach's eye for technical feedback — you stay in control of when and how you train.

How much does it cost?+

The first step is free (STARTER plan). Unlocking the rest requires a BASIC subscription at €9/month — unlimited courses, no commitment.
